Essence FM feature request list
fcorona | Posted on Wed 13 Mar 2024, 11:06 PM Dear Kodamo, been enjoying the hell out of my EFM mk2 for the past few months, it's got some serious sound design capabilities! Thanks for such a great machine.I've been adding items to a request list as I continue to use it, it's getting a bit long so I think it's time I share it, one can dream right? Some of these have been already addressed by other users but thought I include them here anyway, and some might be just me not having dived deep enough into the machine... so apologies in advance is so Here's my 2¢: ModMatrix: -More slots, way more, the more the better -Assign Offset and Ratio as destinations -Operators as modulation sources -Visual feedback on the parameters themselves that are being modulated LFO: -More LFOs! -Finer speed value increments, expressed in Hz or ms -Ability to use Offset and Common simultaneously Amp: -Finer segment resolution (ideally to the single ms) on the X axis, and a MIDI or tempo sync option when looping -Freely adjustable curves for every segment Pitch: -Freely adjustable curves for every segment Operators: -Adjustable smooth interpolation between operator waveforms, modulateable -Feedback function freely assignable to any operator, even if it's still limited to only two per voice. This would save time by not having to mess with the algorithm configuration when suddenly in need of feedback on an operator other than 1 and 2. -Ability to pan individual carrier operators -Realtime wavefolding of waveforms (modulatable via mod matrix) Effects: -Add HP filter on all delays and reverbs -More parameters per effect, ie predelay and diffusion on reverbs; feedback level on phaser, flanger and chorus; modulation on delays and reverbs; Cheers! Colin Muir Dorward | Posted on Fri 22 Mar 2024, 09:56 PM I think we need midi/tempo sync even when not looping. For example you might have a decay, then a rise followed by release, and you want that second rise to conclude on the 8th-note, for tempo-based pumping vibe. Currently I have to edit all the envelopes by ear each time I change the tempo... it's quite a big job.One more request: For pitch envelopes, can the Y-axis value be listed in cents rather than just a number 0-95? |
fcorona | Posted on Wed 27 Mar 2024, 10:43 PM Yes to both |
Jazz Paladin | Posted on Thu 28 Mar 2024, 04:28 AM Assigning Feedback Amount to modulation destination would be nice… |
jbowman | Posted on Thu 28 Mar 2024, 10:27 AM I think you can already do this (under the General tab), unless I have misunderstood |
fcorona | Posted on Sat 30 Mar 2024, 10:27 PM Yes it would be nice to have feedback as a destination in the modmatrix, makes sense |
KODAMO | Posted on Sun 31 Mar 2024, 12:02 AM It is already possible https://kodamo.org/essencefm_manual.php#section30 |
Jazz Paladin | Posted on Sun 31 Mar 2024, 12:46 AM Very helpful! I didn’t realize it was under the global parameters, I was always looking under Op 1 or Op2! |
fcorona | Posted on Sun 31 Mar 2024, 12:47 AM Ah yes, you have to select Global, not OP1/2 as I was doing. Thanks K |
