Request: Voice Editor - Knobs Change Op Volumes
darthkrimeny | Hi, I recently received my new EssenceFM; I'm experienced with FM synthesis (Digitone,etc), and I love the immediacy the EssenceFM brings when creating sounds. However, when editing voices, often find myself wishing I could quickly adjust operator volumes with the 6 colored knobs. Here's how I imagine it working: 1. Go to the Voice Editor 2. Go to Voice Settings (tap empty region of algorithm side of screen) 3. Go to Base tab 4. The 6 operators can have their volumes adjusted by turning the 6 colored knobs Some changes to make this extra useful: 1. When in Voice Settings and on the Base tab, the Volume, Transpose, and Tuning voice settings would no longer be mapped to knobs. I find these 3 shortcuts less useful than using all knobs to adjust Op volumes 2. When in Voice Settings and on the Base tab only, each operator's box could be outlined in the corresponding knob color (e.g., Op3 would be green, like Knob 3) 3. In ALL Voice Editor views, each Op's box (in the algorithm section) could have a thin vertical line representing its set volume There may be better ways to design the UX, but I'm open to something like this if it means being able to tweak/balance Op volumes all at once. I realize I can setup MIDI CC modulations to control these from an external controller, but that would obviously use most of the available mod slots per voice and eat up a lot of MIDI CCs. Synthetica | Great Idea! Also to add to this, when on this Base editing page, it would be great if you could use Inc/Dec to edit the next/previous voice as those buttons appear to be unused in this screen. |
