The MASK1EX is a desktop synthesizer providing all the incredible sounds of the MASK1 in a small, stylish, lightweight and cost-efficient package.
It comes with 377 preset sounds and 200 user memory slots for own creations.
The bitmask sound engine is fully integrated in this module. Each voice offers two bitmask oscillators, two multimode digital filters, four envelopes, a noise source and two LFOs. It also comes with high-quality onboard stereo effects. Polyphonic legato slurs and other expressive play modes do work perfectly via MIDI, it is a unique feature to MASK1/MASK1EX that allows to dynamically change articulation between notes depending on how you play, making the sound more lively than on any other synthesizer. Built-in looper makes it ideal for jamming.

Front panel offers 23 illuminated buttons and two rotary encoders. It is a sound module, so it must be used with master keyboard, sequencer or computer with MIDI DIN or MIDI USB.

MASK1EX is 100% compatible with MASK1, but some minor differences in sound character might exist due to oversampling and analog output stage.

The MASK1EX, with its minimalistic interface, invites you into a zen and relaxed sound exploration. Press a button, turn the knob and listen how the sound evolves. The MASK1EX's engine works with few parameters, but well selected ones, to maximize the sound design possibilities while making sound creation quick and satisfying. Front panel is designed to allow to switch and edit parameters with a single hand. Sounds are fully editable and can be stored in one of the 200 internal memory slots. They can be backed up or loaded from your computer and shared with other people.

How does Bitmask synthesis work?

A sine wave is split into different sections that are repeated, scaled, inverted or silenced, to build a new waveform. All of this by inputting a single number. Only In-House developed algorithms

Any digital synthesizer's secret sauce come down to the algorithms it uses. Some might be tempted to just copy any algorithm used elsewhere but here for the Mask1 we developed everything from scratch, fine-tuning each details by ear until it sounds right. That includes all the reverb effects, delays, choruses, the oscillator section, filter, the way the envelope and LFOs interacts on the sound... This is what makes the sound unique.

With its compact size and light weight, the MASK1EX will easily fit in your studio and is easy to carry around for gigs.
It remembers settings between sessions and offers a built-in looper that allows sequences (up to 10000 notes) to be recorded and played back while you are improvising.
With its full CC-mapped parameters, it can be easily controlled by external gear to edit sounds and do any sort of crazy things.
