EFM Tempo-locked envelopes

Colin Muir Dorward
Hi, pretty sure this has been discussed but couldn't find the thread.
Would really open doors and take this unit to the next level...
Is there a reason not to do it?

Thinking out loud, here, what about a simple visual grid showing the clock divisions?
I understand that the grid would look distorted because of the dynamic time scale visualization, but I don't think that's a problem.
I don't really need a snap-to-grid or quantization; a visual cue might be all we need.
Of course there would still need to be an auto-scaling of the envelopes with midi tempo changes.

Envelopes aren't displayed linearly (an envelope that is twice as large on the display is much more than twice as long). This is to allow to easily work with short and long envelopes, otherwise you would have to constantly zoom in/out.
However the drawback is that it makes any grid impossible, or that grid would have to change for each segment of the envelope.

Yes I understand this, but not sure why it's a drawback. You could use colour coding to help make sense of the different grid divisions.
One way to look at it, is that the (non-linear) grid is already there, since the envelopes are already arranged across time, we just can't see it. All we need are some visual guides, even very broad indicators. I agree it might look a little unusual given the non-linear display, but I'm ready to get into it!
And of course the auto-tempo-scaling algorithm would be really handy with or without a tempo-grid.

OK, so let's say there is no grid to show me tempo markers, maybe it's just too visually cumbersome, or for other reasons I'm not grasping: it's still not very hard to simply tempo-sync the envelopes by ear.

I wonder if the tempo/time auto-scaling function would get us 90% of the way there with the addition of just a single UI button/envelope (including pitch env!)
