Creating such a synthesizer as a small company wasn't the easiest task, but you believed in us and supported our work since the beginning. To thank you all, we worked hard on many features you requested, and also improved existing ones. We believe that the EssenceFM can do so much more than what people usually expect from an FM synthesizer. That's why, in the future, we'll focus more on content (sounds and videos), while refining the existing features. As usual for new firmware releases, it's important to share your impressions and report any bug you may find. Have fun and have a great holiday! |
Failed Muso![]() | Thank you for another amazing update! Happy New Year to everyone at Kodamo! ๐๐ |
Soarer![]() | Yeees ๐คฉ |
Strider![]() | Thanks, this is awesome ! ๐งก๐งก๐งก |
| Sunfalls | Awesome !! |
| Teomi | Nice one!! Those drums at the beginning sound very good. I'm guessing it's all coming from the EFM? |
KODAMO![]() | Yes, actually the drums and the bass are a single patch with a built-in sequence. It's part of the sound bank that will be released in a few days ๐ |
| Teomi | That is awesome! These drums sound seriously good! |
Soarer![]() | Glad to hear you like the drums Teomi ๐ Yes hope to have the bank ready next week. |
Kwerky![]() | Fantastic update! ๐ Really looking forward to the new patches. |
| Xenosoul | Thank You๐๐๐๐๐๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ |
| Benfay | Great! Thank you so much! ๐คฉ |
Strider![]() | And what about the new Co5ma soundbank ? |
Gliou![]() | Bonjour, Merci pour cette nouvelle mise ร jour. Petit soucis, il m' a fallut DAC Sync pour que les sorties audio s'active. |
Soarer![]() | โMono: true monoโ is still with Legato which it really shouldnโt be. The following notesโ attack are not triggered. |
KODAMO![]() | This could be another option called "retrigger attack on legato". Current way is still technically true mono, because note releases do not overlap anymore. A lot of analog synths do not retrigger the attack on legato because it sounds more musical (like having the choice to slur notes on an acoustic instrument) |
| DX100 | Super update! So many good things, well done, although the BIG microtuning bugs are still there. When you transpose layers in a patch, the values are wrong, they don't correspond to the tuning but to the position in the tuning. so for example a 5th wont always be a fifth and because it corresponds to the position in the tuning the tuning relationships change between layers as you play up and down the keyboard, I hope so much you can understand and work out this problem. |
Soarer![]() | Ok but I would still much prefer to have a plain mono mode with no legato or portomento especially for basses. Still I have to lift my finger completely in order to hear the full sound with attack. All synths Iโve owned, hardware and software have a simple mono mode like this where the full sound is played as it is and playing monophonically so that no notes overlap. Is this somehow hard to do on the EssenceFM? |
KODAMO![]() |
Is this somehow hard to do on the EssenceFM?
Not hard to do, it's just matter of thinking about it really ๐ There are some spare bytes in the performance data, so expanding the mono modes is totally feasible in the future.
We'll check more in-depth for this behavior. Does that make sense to keep the current behavior and try to make the new one optional ? Or in real use, you always need the tuning to be shifted along with the transposition ? |
Soarer![]() | Sounds good. Thanks for bringing the Alternator - itโs great for panning each note to the opposite side or for alternating octaves and Iโm sure itโll have many other uses. |
| DX100 |
We'll check more in-depth for this behavior. Does that make sense to keep the current behavior and try to make the new one optional ? Or in real use, you always need the tuning to be shifted along with the transposition ?
Yes optional is a very good idea as it sometimes can be interesting+people who might have made songs with the current behaviour will still be able to get the sound back. |
| DX100 | The range of the new Y-points doesn't seem very much, even on 400%? |
Soarer![]() | The Alternator does not work in patches with 2 layers. When one layer is muted it works. The new envelope scale parameters do not work with undo/redo and do not go to the default 0 when double tapping value. |
KODAMO![]() | Thanks for the report we'll look at these soon |
| DX100 | Could we possibly have triplet and dotted notes in the bpm please? |
Soarer![]() | Yes I'd much rather see synced values instead of the BPM values which are not really helpful. |
Strider![]() | +1 |
Kwerky![]() | +1 |
| Kopplog |
Yes I'd much rather see synced values instead of the BPM values which are not really helpful.
... in any case, a divisor/multiplicator seems to be the best along to the sync, IMHO. Let's don't miss quintuplets, etc... |
| mint | I'm having a strange issue where, only in performance mode, the keys do not play the correct notes. When I play up the keyboard, some notes will be lower than the last note played. Additionally, playing the same key doesn't always yield the same note. It's really odd. I've tried midi in, usb in, and even the internal touch keyboard, the results seem to be identical with each method. I do not have this issue at all in patch or voice mode. I originally thought it was just a funky performance, but initialized performances have the same issue. I tried reinstalling the OS and starting from scratch and that didn't fix it. I could be missing something obvious, have only been using it for a few weeks, but haven't got to dig into performance mode yet because of this issue. Any help appreciated! ๐งก |
KODAMO![]() | Don't you have portamento set to the max (120) on parts of your performance ? That may make you think the previous note is played instead of the last one. Try clearing the performance (Performance => Manage => Clear) to see it that solves your problem. Also, check the latest firmware (v6.0f) it fixes an issue regarding CC#5 Portamento Time, it was inverted which may cause an issue if your DAW/external sequencer tries to initialize this CC |
| mint | Thank you! This was the issue! I'm not sure how the setting got to be 120, but clearing it fixed the problem. |
| umberman | hi. if it possible to have separate previews for layers/sounds direct on page of voice sequencer? _so, the problem is that every time I compose something in the voice sequencer (for instance, multiple layers: kicks, snares, cymbals, pads etc) i have to go back to the previous page where I can hear the layers separately. that's why I think that on the sequencer page it would be a good option to select and listen separately each component /layer. thank you! |
