hi I just bought a Kodamo EssenceFm mk II from perfect circuit. I am hoping to make some cool sounds with it.

That's great, feel free to share your music here!

So in the intervening time since posting my hello post, I returned my Essence MkII, reflected on why I had returned it, and tried a couple more FM type things and I also repurchased a Korg Kronos which is of course an amazing FM synth and when I owned it before I didn't really use it as such.

I bought a used Digitone, and while it is cool, it had a tendency to stand out in a bad way, and generally didn't fit into my setup. A great machine, but it lost out just on the basis of sound, style of.

I bought another Essence FM after thinking more about what a synth should have to fit into my little ensemble of synths. The Essence is flexible, powerful, easy to use, sounds great (though levels out seem not at the same db as all my other synths) and has a very convenient form factor, which unusually, does not hamper usability. The Essence is a bit of a triumph in many ways, and I decided that the things people complain about either have been fixed, will be fixed, or are not important enough to keep us from making good music.

I tore down my studio for another ergonomic reshuffle after needing to replace a couple of things which got damaged by a power surge. I am generally in what I hope is a short creative drought - I make a "song" every day just about, but the ones I have been making since Christmas have all been terrible, and I am hoping to make something good enough soon and I will post it here for people to click on. My setup now is an MPC4000, Kronos, Polybrute, opsix, and Kodamo. Not too many pieces and they all fit close together, but there are not many limits on what you can make. I concentrate on played, not programmed electronic music with few genre constraints. I dont try to make a certain style, which sometimes works and many times does not.

Thanks for running this forum, I think it is a major benefit for users not to have to find you on Facebook, or Modwiggler or GS much as all those places are great in their own way.

I downloaded the Soarer sound set this week and I have been dissecting those very heavy bass sounds. They are very well made and this kind of patch, while maybe different synths can do it, I dont own a lot of hardware that readily make those noises that well.

I'm happy to hear that the patches I made are useful, thanks 😀
My EssenceFM just keeps getting better and better still. I really think users need to keep working with it patiently and new sounds will keep popping up. I've made a number of new drum sounds since my bank was out. Will have a video ready soon.
