Can an operator be both a carrier and modulator?

For example, on the Elektron Digitone some operator might be both heard AND modulate another operator (see, for example appendix A of https://www.elektron.se/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Digitone-User-Manual_ENG_OS1.30_200613.pdf) EDIT: Maybe if I use another carrier as the feedback source of Op 1?

It's rarely desirable for practical reasons for sound design (it's not easy to control your sound this way), but it can be done by doing exactly what you're describing.
