MIDI bug: Random note playing on Mask1EX MK2

Lanc3777
Hello,

I bought the Kodamo Mask1EX MK2 in June 2026 on Thomann, and since the beginning, I have been experiencing a MIDI problem:

When I play using my master keyboard or with the live piano roll, a note frequently plays by itself (without me playing it or sequencing it). It acts like a stuck drone note that sounds incorrect and completely ruins my creativity. Needless to say, it makes the synth unusable right now.

The only way to make it disappear is to turn off the Mask1. However, when I power it back on, the same thing happens most of the time (approximately 9 out of 10 times).

The Mask1 is connected to my MOTU Micro Lite (which works perfectly fine with my other synths).

I'm not a MIDI expert, but at this point, I believe the issue is coming from the synth itself. I updated the firmware thinking it would fix the problem—it worked for a short while, but now it's back to doing the same thing.

I love the patches and sound of this synth very much, but for now, I can't use it.

Thanks for your help.

I'd suggest installing something like "Midi Monitor" to see what is actually being sent, as for me it sounds like the Midi Controller, not the Mask 1, but it will listen to all MIDI traffic and show where it's coming from. This below is for Mac.

Problem solved! My mistake, sorry. 😓 I had accidentally selected the wrong port in Live (sending the piano roll to Port 1 of my MOTU Micro Lite instead of Port 4 where the Mask1 is actually plugged in) Thank you GEOSynths for pointing me in the right direction! I love my Kodamo and can use it now !

PS: the intern Mask1 midi port was set to port 0. Set on port 4, it's working perfectly ! That was the main problem.

Sorry for the many post, but I still have this issue. It seems the MASK1 isn't saving my MIDI channel/port preference. It always reverts to port 3 whenever I power the synth off and on again, even though I've set it to port 4. I've tried reflashing the firmware (v2.00) with no success.

Note: I tested this with no MIDI or USB cables plugged in

Is this port settings something you manage on the Mask1 ?

Yes, I set it using the button: General -> Port.
But nothing is saved when I turn the Mask1 off and power it again.
It come back straight to Port 3. Today it switched to Port 6...

In that menu, Port indicates Portamento

It can change on a preset basis

oh ok, thanks.

Finally, I've plugged the Mask1 with a USB câble. It's working well. I guess I'm a MIDI noob ^^.
