Volume modulation artifacts
Colin Muir Dorward | I love my EFM, however, I would gladly give up 250 voices in exchange for smooth volume modulation of the operators. I spend so much time trying to edit out these little creaking sounds from my wobble basses or any "gated" type sounds... sigh. Still a beast of a synth though. |

| Colin Muir Dorward | Hi, thanks for the reply. The worst case scenario is simply using an LFO to amplitude modulate a sine operator. Play a low bass note and the artifacts are plainly audible. OK, so we can use a looping amplitude envelope instead; this is better, it's still not crystal clean AM at higher rates, and the other problem is we have a much more limited ability to tempo sync, since the envelope time scale resolution is quite coarse, and of course i cant do something like having the tremolo gradually increase or decrease without setting up a complex modulation matrix. I'll make some program files and send them along to demonstrate. |
