Mpe performance slot1

Jpilarski	Posted on Mon 08 Jan 2024, 08:19 AM I used a few mpe controllers with essence fm2 and for some reason I can never activate the sound I loaded into the first slot in a performance using midi ch1. I tried using both a quenexus and an OffGrid. I can trigger all of the remaining channels fine. This happens on both the factory performances patches and newly created ones. Is there a setting I missed. I am using Omni/mpe and I can see there are notes sending on ch1 but they are triggering the second voice slot which uses ch2 and skipping the first slot on ch1. All other channels are playing as expected. I'm curious what I might be doing wrong or is this something where those controllers are sending a ch0 for the expected ch1. Thanks
Jpilarski	Posted on Tue 09 Jan 2024, 02:18 AM I just discovered my midi controller uses ch1 as a menu of sorts and the issue was simply how the controller sent mpe and it had nothing to do with the essence fm settings. Thanks I’ll leave this post up in case someone else has a similar issues but consider this topic resolved.
KODAMO	Posted on Tue 09 Jan 2024, 02:39 PM It's probably due to the fact that some MPE controllers use CH1 as "global channel" for special messages, and the EssenceFM does not support that. You have to disable this feature (most devices can) so all MIDI channels are used as "normal channels"
