Layer morphing - additive and op mods - essence fm

Avi F
hi, I don't own an essence fm but I've started becoming very interested because of the sonic options with layer vectoring.

Specifically im wondering about whether or not efm can vector morph volume between layers using the xy interaction display lfo I guess, it looks like, while also, each preset in each corner, will also have all of the algorithms modulations per preset i guess, going on also? if it can, that is a lot of modulating! !!

I basically am curious what the limitations are, currently I think it's not possible yet to have an additive waveform in a single preset change to other ones, like how a wavetable might do. If it is I think it's a complex setup. But I'm not adverse to complex programming...

Anyway, my curiosity here now is with the layer morphing with the xy touch pad, between presets, what modulation is possible and what is not. And also audio rate lfo or not (how fast)

Thank you!

Hi,
Yes morphing between layers by changing each layer's volume is exactly what it does, it can "morph" between 2, 3 or 4 layers of the patch.
All modulations inside each voice (layer) still apply.
However the vector morphing is only enabled when you're on its screen (so it works on 1 part (patch) at a time).
LFO for vector morphing isn't audio rate (60 Hz).
Standard LFOs in voices are low-ish audio rate (~700 Hz)

There are many ways to create additive, wavetable-like sounds on the EFM, you can use the custom waveforms in operators then control their volume level using any parameter (modulation matrix). You can also put all operators at the bottom of the screen (additive way), each producing a sine wave of different frequency, then control their individual volume using envelopes or another mod source.

Wow that is pretty amazing to be able to do all that!! 👏 👏 thanks for letting me know.
