Mask 1 Osc and Noise Volume vs General Volume

Audiounity
I am just curious if the General Volume is just a convenience to balance different patches or if the filter reacts differently (saturation) with different mask volumes. I noticed on one sound I was getting digital noise when I had the filter resonance really high and I was able to mitigate that by lowering the mask volumes down to like 7. Does the filter react differently to the volume? Would I be able to get softer sounds by lowering mask volumes and then compensating with the General Volume? Thanks!

General Volume is just a convenient way of changing the whole patch volume. The filter shouldn't react differently, but if you are using extreme resonance levels it *could* have an impact (high resonance makes it so sensitive that it basically reacts to the most subtle digital signal variations).
Usually softer sounds can only be achieved by using a softer mask as a base, or by lowering the filter in lowpass mode (or using some effect that provides built-in filtering, like some of the distortions)
