Advice for Plugging MASK 1 into unbalanced fx

AndH123
Hi,

I am struggling to find a good workaround to plug the mask1 into any sort of unbalanced fx/compressors/eq's. I have tried line level shifters, but this obviously messes with the gain staging in a really unappealing way. Ofc, using fx sends is fine, but I am wondering if there is anything else that would work, as using unbalanced cables from Mask 1's outputs does not yield pleasant results. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

Hi,
Unbalanced cables shouldn't be a problem if your other gear isn't connected to earth (two-prong plugs or battery powered devices).
If unbalanced cables cause issues, a solution is to use a linear transformer to power the Mask1 (the old kind of power adapters which are bulky and heavy). Since they don't connect to earth at all, that will prevent ground loops.
Balanced cables are strongly recommended though, they were made to prevent ground loops while providing electrical safety by connecting devices' chassis to earth.
