Mask 1 update for Mac

mrgkeys
Topic tilte covers it ;-) My Mask 1 has 1.7 shipped from the factory, is there no way to update on OS X?

Unfortunately ST Microelectronics' tool for updating firmware is very hard to install on Mac, and Safari does not support WebMIDI API which makes the update even more complicated.
I suggest you borrow a PC for the update, until we find a solution for Mac users. Really sorry for that inconvenience 🙁

Google chrome does! I use it the Novation Components all the time. I saw you posted a version but then pulled it, I'd love to try it, (old computer guy, it didn't seem complicated to me) but I can't till I get back home on Monday. Any chance you'd stick it back up for a second?

It's back again 😉
You may have to look on the web if STM32CubeProgrammer does not want to install, some people managed to make it work by installing Java Runtime Environment and giving full privileges to the installer, also they launch it from the command line... Let me know if that work for you.

I got it installed and running just fine. I’ll try the bin file Monday. I had an up to date JRE install on my Mac and it was a breeze. OS X 13.3.1 on Apple Silicon. M1Max

got home early and tried the bin file. Using google chrome the midi got established fine, the STC programmer ran great, bin file transferred successfully the first time. super easy. checked the firmware and its showing 2.0 now. Thank you for giving it another try!! Ready for the future updates!

also, no command line involved, no permissions problems, I've had more problems installing Pro Tools or Nuendo.

That's awesome! I will keep the Mac update procedure then, with a little warning telling that it might require some knowledge depending on your OS and what is installed. Maybe we should add a link to the JRE too.

I think that the most current Ventura OS X won't let anything older than the very newest Java run (V8.x) Its flagged some way. I have a 10.12 machine hanging around here, I'll see if it installs and works there.

For information.

I'm running Ventura on a 2019 Macbook Pro and the lastest firmware 3.1, with all the necessary compliments, installed just fine with no permission issues. I did have to install the latest Java runtime as listed in the firmware update instructions. BTW the link to the Java runtime download takes you to the French version (I wonder why!) so you have to change the link for local versions.
