DTronics DT-RDX compatible?

XRONOS
I just bought one essenceFM and still curious about the MIDI specification and Reface DX sysex compatibility.

It would be nice to have much more realtime knobs and buttons to control the inner parameters.

The link for the DTronics DT-RDX controller is the same as following.

If that controller is made only for the Reface/DX7 it probably won't work very well. In the EssenceFM the DX7 sysex support is basic, it's only meant to help someone importing sounds but it's not accurate in any way. It may be improved in the future though.

You have 6 assignable knobs (on the Performance page), otherwise knobs affect parameters shown on the current page. There's unfortunately no perfect solution to this, a physical knob for each parameter is only possible for very simple engines (eg. MegaFM with its YM2612 chips)

As expected, I have to fabricate a MIDI translator with an Arduino board. STM32? ^^

Kind of defeat the purpose a little to have one knob per function on FM synth like Kodamo with its interface.

Regarding a MIDI translator, if your goal is to be able to do it without a computer that might be your best bet. But if you don't mind a pc or laptop you can try MIDI Pipe or Boomtranslator. Blokas MIDIHUB also has some pipes to translate/convert CC so it might also be an option.

It would be nice to have CC commands for most of the functions, so there is an option to map external midi controllers like Faderfox to control some additional parameters that isn't available as per knob function by the "internal" encoders.
