Varying volumes from out 1, 2, etc.

fori
Recently, I noticed that on my EFM (mk2), output 2 sends a much hotter signal than outs 1 and 4 while out 3 is virtually inaudible. Initially, I thought these differences were coming from my mixer, but I tried swapping the channels on the mixer and it had no effect. I bought my unit used; I'm wondering if some wires got crossed internally for outs 2 and 3.

Before I message the seller and/or open up my unit, are there any software settings that could be turned on that would cause this behavior? I want to make sure I'm not overlooking something obvious.

The first output may have a slightly different level compared to the others (because it's controlled by the physical volume knob).

Many settings can also affect each output volume : the dry/wet settings in Performance mode, the Part volume itself (press on the part on the Performance page to see it), the CC7 (volume) if received (controls the part's volume), the CC11 (expression) if received and enabled as "Expression pedal controls volume" in Global > MIDI.

Yeah, those are all good ideas to check, but it looks like none of them are factors affecting the output. I have been testing this with a performance that has the GM Concert Piano patch on all 16 channels. I change the out of the first instance of the patch from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 and do not touch any of the other channels. I actually noticed that in Global --> Audio, all four outs show the same volume (around -26 db when playing middle C) but the audible volume is different. Out 2 sounds almost twice as loud as outs 1 and 4, and out 3 is basically inaudible. The monitor on my mixer also shows the volume for output 2 as ~twice as loud.

Do you have advice on how I should go about repairing my unit, given that this does not appear to be a problem with the settings? My thought was that maybe some loose solder is connecting outs 2 and 3, thus explaining why one is extra hot and the other is nearly inaudible. I'm pretty wary of opening the unit up though.

Where are you from ? If you are sure it's a hardware problem and the unit is under warranty then we can take it back and look at it. Write to contact@kodamo.org for the return procedure. The purchase proof from the 1st seller would be needed for that.
If the unit isn't under warranty then you can still send it to us, we will only charge for shipping. Unit inspection and minor repairs are free.

A bad solder could make an output silent or change in volume depending on where it is. It's quite rare, but may happen.
