Crash with NDLR input

dstengle
I've got 5.2 from July 18th.

When I use the NDLR I can pretty reliably crash the EssenceFM when I turn on the "Chord sequencer" function in the NDLR. I've attached a screenshot of the midi monitor to show where the crash happens in case that helps.

Let me know if there are other ways to get data. I will also just capture a midi dump from the NDLR into my PC and attach that here to show more data approximately where the crash happens.

Okay, I think I figured it out and this is more of a load test scenario.

The NDLR was configured to send each track to all 4 usb ports (The NDLR presents 4 different USB Midi devices over the same connection). So quadruple the traffic. The chord sequencer is tripling the number of voices used. When looking at the performance display this was causing spikes of up to 200 voices. It only takes a few seconds of this to get a crash with a harsh tone on the audio output.

When I reduce the duplicate usb traffic through the NDLR config, crashes are gone.

The NDLR sending lots of duplicate traffic over usb might be an edge case but things did appear to break well below the voice limit so it could be worth exploring.

Let me know if you would like a MIDI capture and I will see what I can do.

The EssenceFM is not very sensitive to the number of voices playing, but more to the number of events happening at the same time. Yes a MIDI capture is welcome!
