Waveform morphing (wavetable)

Soarer
Have you thought about making smooth morphing from each waveform to the next like a wavetable? 🤩 That would be amazing in such a powerful FM synth and open up for even more sound design and performance. Alternatively one could chose 4 or 8 waveforms to morph through. I’d love to see this!

Are you looking for a dedicated 'Morph' feature ? Because morphing is already possible with the modulation matrix, by controlling operator's volumes (or whole voice volumes), using the same source but with different offset/ratios.

Example for wavetable-like morphing:
Op1 and Op2 not connected to each other (additive)
Op1: saw wave, volume controlled by mod wheel, offset 0, ratio 100%
Op2: square wave, volume controlled by mod wheel, offset 100, ratio -100%

Then you'll morph between saw/square wave by turning the mod wheel

No that is mixing. I'm talking about traditional wavetable synthesis where you morph between say, 2 waveforms so that you get different waveforms between them. See from 2:57 here:

In the Digitone it's possible with the HARM (Harmonics) parameter.

+1, yes this would be cool!

Morphing appears to be the same as mixing, that's what is happening in your video.
The only difference is that a wavetable synth may do that at the oscillator level, while on the EssenceFM you'll have to use two of them and play with their volume.

On that example, you use Op1 and Op2 to generate a new waveform, that is used to modulate Op3 :

Looks interesting, nice way of illustrating it. I’ll try to experiment with that.
Here though, I was mainly referring to the switching through waveforms and it would be great if it could be done smoothly like a wavetable synth. It would be an easy way of going through a great variety of timbres without the hard abrupt sound of switching waveforms. Works very very well on the Digitone though it’s only going through a smaller set of waveforms.

This indeed will turn the EFM towards being a Wavetable synth indeed...

Yes but not only that. It is the modulating/modulated waveform that’s changing so the result could be even more complex than typical wavetable synthesis.
